About/CV

Abigail Clemens is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher based in London (UK) and the Bay Area (CA, USA). She makes installations, drawings, and sound pieces that integrate Asian American studies, music composition, semiotics, and world literature. Examining the relationships between materials and empire, and visual/aural motifs and culture, her work centers movement, translation, and in-between spaces. Interested in migratory aesthetics and sound as a site of hospitality, she makes and studies frameworks of ethical listening, sound-making, and intimacy-building.

She received her BFA from the University of Michigan in 2017 and completed her MFA at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University in 2023. She is currently pursuing her PhD at the London College of Communication at University of the Arts London under the supervision of Dr. Salomé Voegelin and Dr. Annie Goh.
